Desde Getfirefox.com para Windows o Mac. Aqui los pasos breves para tener Firefox 17 en ubuntu GNU Linux y probar la integración de Facebook.
Estos pasos para tu version de Ubuntu que no ha sido actualizada hasta hoy. Es importante recordar que aquí no se registrara únicamente el paquete de Firefox, sino el PPA de pruebas-verificacion para todos los productos de Mozilla.
Abrir la terminal (Control + Alt + T o F12 si usas Guake)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-security/ppa
[sudo] password for xxxxxx:
Está a punto de añadir el siguiente PPA a su sistema:
Mozilla Security/Stability testing archive for ubuntu

Pulse [Intro] para continuar o ctrl-c para cancelar

Hasta ahí ya tenemos listo el primer paso, solo nos falta actualizar el índice de paquetes e instalar sobre el que ya tenemos.
2) Asi que escribimos en la misma sesión de la terminal:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox
[yes]
3) Posteriormente iniciamos Firefox y debemos ir a la app de facebook messenger for firefox para activar la Social API. Aqui ya logueados en facebook precionamos el botón verde TURN ON
Con eso estamos listos para escoger:
Activar/Desactivar la barra lateral (timeline de amigos) o Notificaciones de Escritoriover Solicitudes de AmistadMensajes, (también se integra el chat a tus ventanas de navegación)Notificaciones.
